SMITH MOUNTAIN LAKE

AAUW members and their families are invited to come visit the tranquil environment of Virginia's "best kept secret", Smith Mountain Lake, at the comfortable lakeside homes of fellow AAUW members.

Come to enjoy the setting with paints, canvas, or camera. Participate in the many activities in the lake area: boating, fishing, swimming, para-sailing. Attend the SML Charity Home Tour, Fall Festival, the Blue Ridge Folk Life Festival at Ferrum College, Antique Boat Show, Fishing & Archery Tournaments, Wine Festival, SML Arts Council's Art Show & Concerts, Quilt & Rug Hooking Shows. Visit Poplar Forest, the new D-Day Memorial, Smith Mt. Lake State Park, or Booker T. Washington National Park.

We have rooms with double, queen and/or twin bed accommodations. Most have a private bath or one for your private use during your stay. A continental breakfast will be served. Breakfast time will be determined by the hostess and/or your schedule. We will have information on restaurants, activities, boat rentals, golf courses available in the home. We will send information in advance upon request.

There are some restrictions; i.e., a 3 night maximum stay, no smoking allowed in the house unless permission is granted by the hostess, and no pets allowed.  Some of the homes do have pets or are not smoke free. Kindly state a pet free or smoke free home with your request. The homes are not equipped for handicapped excess.

The fee of $50 per night for room and breakfast will support AAUW’s EF and LAF.
