In principle and in practice, AAUW values and seeks a diverse membership.  There shall be no barriers to full participation in this organization on the basis of gender, race, creed, age, sexual orientation, national origin, disability, or class.

Congratulations to the Bedford County Branch for being one of the Grand Prize Winners at the AAUW Convention in St. Louis. Through the “Member-Get-A-Member Campaign” from June 16, 2008, to June 15, 2009, the Bedford County Branch recruited the highest percentage of new members for a branch. We are very proud of them for getting new members into their branch, and for joining the “Member-Get-A-Member Campaign.”

The bylaws changes
An AA degree or higher is still required for membership in AAUW.

Under the One Member-One Vote, branch members can go to the next National Convention, 2011 in Washington, DC,  and have a say in AAUW - if you cannot go, you will be able to vote online.

Association Dues remain $49.00 for this year. At your first meetings of the year - Open House meetings, remember to take advantage of the Shape The Future Campaign, and put out posters inviting new members to join "Today - On the Spot for Half-Price Association Dues." At all of your community-is-invited meetings or programs, new members can join for half-price Association Dues - that is, $24.50 Association Dues. State Dues are $8.00.

Ask your branch to opt-in for the Member Pilot Program. You can renew online - Association  Dues, State Dues, and Branch Dues.

If you hold an associate's or equivalent, bachelor's, or higher degree from a regionally accredited college or university, you can join AAUW as an individual (member-at-large) or as a member of one of AAUW's 1,000 branches. Branch members also belong to the national organization.

Students at AAUW College/University Partners can now become Affiliate Members without paying additional AAUW dues.

Qualified institutions are educational institutions that offer recognized associate, baccalaureate, or higher degrees and that have full regional accreditation (including two-year or community colleges) or appropriate professional association approval.

  Branch members join one of the branches across the State of Virginia to carry out grassroots efforts.

  Virginia Members-at-large affiliate directly with the State and National Association. Click HERE for a Virginia       MAL application. 

    Branch student affiliates and student affiliates-at-large are undergraduates enrolled in regionally accredited two- or four-year institutions.

College/University (C/U) Members are accredited institutions of higher education.

Using the Membership Center Database
To check the status of your membership go to the AAUW Member Center  and log in with your membership number, which can be found on the mailing label of your Virginia Vision. Click on Member Services Data Base. Create a password if you do not have one. Log in and click "My Profile." You can check you membership status and make changes in your information if necessary.
