Officers elected for 2008-2010
Dianne Blais Laura Wimmer Sandra O. Sieber Linda Wells
Elected as Co-Presidents for the 2008-2010 bienniem are Dianne Blais and Laura Wimmer, who has been serving as Co-President with Rosemary Plum, who did not seek a second term.  Co-Vice Presidents for Program will be Sandra O. Sieber and Linda Wells.  Dianne has been president of both the Springfield-Annandale and the Fairfax City Branches and is currently serving as corresponding secretary.  Laura is also president of the Richmond Branch.  Sandra has just completed a two year term as Co-President of the McLean Area Branch.  Linda is also completing a term as co-president of McLean Area.  Nancy Morgan of the Arlington Branch was re-elected Vice President for Communications, and  Lorena Thorne Bruner, past president of the Fredericksburg Branch, was elected Vice President for Public Policy.  Sherry Warren is temporarily continuing as Hampton Roads District Representative. Northern District Representatives will be Ercell Binns and Jacqueline Stephens.  Leslie Purtlebaugh will be Northwest District Representative and Toni Seidelmann will represent Southwest District.

South Atlantic Regional Director Carol Newnam, left, Caroline Pickens, center, and AAUW Director-at-Large Anthony Hill at the Friday evening reception.  Newnam and Hill presented the Leadership Development Series Workshop on Saturday afternoon.  Caroline is AAUW of Virginia parliamentarian and chair of the AAUW Bylaws Committee. Yalana Bryant was honored as   Education Advocate of the Year for her work as Assistant Director of Diversity Initiatives and Gateway Program at Virginia Tech. Rosemary Plum presented the Educator of the Year Award to Linda M. Martin, Gifted and Talented Specialist, at Dogwood Elementary School in Reston, for her work with the Girls Excelling in Math and Science (GEMS) program.
