About Norfolk Branch:
Founded in 1902 as the College Club of Norfolk, we became the Norfolk Branch of AAUW in 1923. Our organization consists of 70 members of all ages, religions and ethnic backgrounds. We welcome anyone holding a college degree who is interested in education and furthering women’s issues.

In keeping with its mission to promote education for women, the Norfolk Branch of the American Association of University Women supports national and international grants as well as funding scholarships for local women to attend colleges in Norfolk. We contribute to the Mary Wright Thrasher Named Unit, which when fully funded will be converted to an AAUW fellowship or grant.  The Branch established this unit to honor Mary Wright Thrasher, a former president both of the Norfolk Branch and of Virginia AAUW.

Norfolk Branch will again organize Girls Can Too, a half-day workshop for middle school girls. This program provides the opportunity for girls to interact with women in careers that include mathematics and science.

General meetings are held monthly. Meeting dates are varied to accommodate our members’ schedules.

The book group meets the third Tuesday evening of each month.  For more information about this special interest group, please contact Nan Hall at  Nan.hall13@gmail.com

If you would like to receive an online copy of the Norfolk Branch monthly bulletin, please send e-mail to Evelyn Robinson.
